QUESTION OF THE WEEK
5-11-12 If you were President of the United States at the beginning of World War II, would you have waited for an event like Pearl Harbor to occur before joining the war, or would you have joined sooner? Explain your answer.
If I were President of the United States at the beginning of World War II, I would have joined the war sooner. Knowing that my army is very strong, I would have wanted to prevent any surprise attacks such as Pearl Harbor. By entering the war sooner, Pearl Harbor would have never happend and the world would be very different right now. Just as in world war I, America would be very strong, so why not also be strong in world war II and win. I would have entered sooner.
ReplyDeleteIf I was the President of the United States at the beginning of World War II, I would have joined the war sooner. I would've join the war sooner because I would want to prevent attacks in the United States. My army is strong enough to fight against any other country. If I was to join the war earlier everything would have happened differently. This is why joining earlier would have been a good idea.
ReplyDeleteIf I have a strong army and was confident I would have won I would obviously join the war. If I was the the president during the beginning of World War II I would have definitely joined the war before a tragedy like the Pearl Harbor took place. Why wait for the lives of millions to be lost before taking action. If I knew that I have a strong army and would have beat any other country that came our way I would have obviously joined first. It would have saved many lives and it would have been the better decision. So if I was the president I would have joined the war before the Pearl Harbor.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the president of the United States at the beginning of World War Two, I would have entered the war prior to the attacks on Pearl Harbor. This is because, although I would not want to plague my country with war, I would also remember that after choosing to remain neutral in World War one, the U.S. was still dragged into the war after innocent american civillians killed as a casualty of war. Pearl Harbor was similar to this event in the way that civillians were killed due to war. To prevent this form happening, I would most likely enter the war. I think that this would have prevented the attack on Pearl Harbor, because then Japan would not have had the element of surprise, and therefor, the attack would not have been necessary.
ReplyDeleteI would have got involved before it occurred because they already saw what Hitler was doing. They should have gotten involved before any harm came to them. Why wait until something bad happens when they could prevent it? They are strong and able to defeat Germany. They could have put an end to the war earlier if they had been involved. They could have had prevented this whole thing.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the President of the United States during WWII, I would have joined the war sooner. Realizing what Hitler is already doing, forming alliances and such; I would have taken a step ahead to prevent any future disaster. Also, the President should realize from their past experience on WWI, how they were forced to choose side, I wouldn’t want to make the same decision all over again. So why wait until another unfortunate event occurs? This is why; if I was the President I would have entered the war earlier.
ReplyDeleteIf i were President of the United States i would have also waited for an event like Pearl Harbor to join WW2. Unless a country showed a major threat to the world, i would not have joined in the beginning. United States tried not to have any problems with other countries. An event like this was not expected because America had not said one word about joining the war. If Hitler were to gain more power, than i would join. This was much of Europe's war, i would not want to interfere and gain problems other nations.
ReplyDeleteDuring WWII, if I were president, I would have done everything possible to prevent the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Even if that meant getting involved with the war. To begin with, I would have had the strongest military. That would have allowed me to win the war easily. If I had won the war, and event like Pearl Harbor would have never happened to us. The war would have ended sooner instead of expanding more and more and ending with so many other places being destroyed. So yes, I would have joined the war before a major event made us get involved.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the president I would've waited. The war had nothing to do with America at first. It was a European affair. The bombing of pearl harbor was unexpected. No one knew that it was going to happen. So getting involved prior to it would have been useless. In something like this there really would be no good choice. The war wasn’t on American ground. It was on European, so getting involved would’ve been fighting for some other nation. America had still hated Hitler and what he was doing but no one knew how serious it was. So we really didn’t want to get involved.
ReplyDeleteIf I were president during World War 2, I would have waited to join in. The United States didn't want to join in the world, but the other countries were attacking the U.S. If I were president I would have stayed out of the war. If an event such as Pearl Harbor were to happen then I join in the war. Before pearl harbor, the united States had no reason to be in the war.
ReplyDeleteIf I were President of the United States at the beginning of World War II, I would have joined the war sooner. I would have been pretty confident that i would have won the war. When the war started, it was obvious that the U.S was going to be in it at some point, so why not be in it from the beginning and let the war end faster. Entering the war from the beginning would may have prevented an incident like Pear Harbor from happening. In conclusion, If i were president around the time World War II started, I would have entered the war from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteIf I were president of the United States at the beginning of World War II, I would have waited for an event like Pearl Harbor to occur before joining the war. After all, the war was a European war, the United States had no business being involved. They were only involved after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I also believe that even though they had a strong Army, that is no reason to be looking for a war. Even if their Army was the strongest, soldiers are still going to die. I believe that it is easy to say that they should have entered before a major attack occurred since we weren't there. They were just rebounding from WW1 and I don't blame them for not wanting to enter another one.
ReplyDeleteIf I was the President of the United States at the time, I would have waited. Rushing into war is never a good thing, and the U.S, had already taken a neutral stance. Citizens would have been angry and there would have been many causalities that could have been prevented. They even gave Japan an ultimatum. I wouldn't have seen any solid reason to attack until Japan provoked and angered us with the attack on Pearl Harbor.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the president during World War II, I would have waited for an event like Pearl Harbor to happen before I wouldve gotten the United States of America involved. I wouldve waited because the war was not our fault and we didn't have a legitament reason to involve ourselves.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the president of the United States at the beginning of World War II, I would have entered the war prior to the attacks on Pearl Harbor. This is because, although I would not want to plague my country with war, I would also remember that after choosing to remain neutral in World War one, the U.S. was still dragged into the war after innocent american civillians killed as a casualty of war. That is why I would have had joined the war before the Bombing of Pearl Harbor.
ReplyDeleteI definitely would've joined sooner. The Unites States of America was very powerful and their presence in the war could've ended it earlier if they had joined earlier. Waiting wasn't a bad idea because they weren't involved but joining sooner just would have led to a better result for not just them but for other countries as well. Joining sooner would also have ensured that no surprise attacks could happen to America such as the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
