2/13/12 Which invention of the 2nd Industrial Revolution do you feel was the most important....Thomas Edison's lightbulb, Alexander Graham Bell's telephone or Gugliemo Marconi's first radio waves across the Atlantic Ocean? Explain.

  1. I think Gugliemo's radio waves are the most important. The radio waves are the foundation of communication and without them, a phone wouldn't even work. Electronic communication is very important today, we see it everywhere. Each text message, or call, or whatever is transmitted through radio waves. Therefore, I think many people out there should thank Gugliemo Marconi for transmitting the first radio waves across the Atlantic Ocean.

    1. Don't forget it was Nikola Tesla who invented radio waves and the transmission of information by radio. Marconi paid Tesla to build the equipment he used for that historic transmission.

  2. I think that Thomas Eddison's lightbulb is the most important of these inventions. This is because if not for the lightbulb then daily activities would all be based on whether or not the sun was up. We also wouldn't have any televisions, or computer monitors, because they were originally based on a lightbulb. People use the lightbulb more than any other invention, without even realizing it, but if you thought about what life would be like without it and what it then led to, they would realize that this is a very important invention. Just think, what would you do if you had to stop every thing once the sun went down; life would practically end at 6:00!

  3. I think that Thomas Edison's invention of the light bulb is the most important. Without the light bulb there would no light. Everything would be lit by candle. In my opinion with candles there would be more fires. With candles, people can knock them over easily. Light bulbs are easier to have around just a flick of a switch instant light.

  4. Inventions keep us moving forward and improve the scope and magnitude of our lives. Some help improve our lives; others take them away. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. The invention of the light bulb enables us to be able to conduct work at night. This greatly improves productivity, enhances the quality of our life, and reduces crime rates. The telephone itself has evolved like humans. It was first made out of brass and wood. Today, we have portable telephones called cell phones. The cell phone allows people to be contacted at any time of the day if they have their cell phone on them.

  5. I think Alexander Graham Bell's telephone is the most inportant. I think it's the most important because it's an easier way of communication. The phone can be used for emergencies. For example, if you have to call someone for help it will be a lot faster to do that, than to write a letter, or send someone out to give the message. The telephone is also a great invention because it's a good source for socializing.

  6. I think that Gugliemo Marconi's first radio waves across the Atlantic Ocean. In my opinion the other two inventions are just improving on lifestyle. We can live fine without them. Without Gugliemo imagine the life we would have. There would be no need for firemen because by the time they new about it it would be too late to do anything. The number of deaths would be so much higher from little things such as falling.

  7. In my opinion, Thomas Edison's light bulb was the most important invention of the Second Industrial Revolution. Just imagine the life today without having light bulbs! We would have to get all the household work before dark and also wake up early. Today, there are so many uses of light bulbs that we barely even notice them. Well, unless you have to change one or buy a new one. People seem to take the light bulbs for granted and do not see the importance of it until a blackout occurs. Light bulbs help us stay up longer and wake up earlier. This invention has truly impacted the whole world.

  8. Of the three, the light bulb was the most important during the Second Industrial Revolution. Yes, the telephone and radio waves are important, but they rely on one another. Without the waves, telephones would be useless a good percentage of the time. The light bulb, on the other hand, has helped us in plenty ever since it was invented. It gives us light at night and lets objects be more visible. A world without light bulbs is just not imaginable. It has become a thing of everyday. From flashlights to lamp lights, to house lights to car lights, it all is needed. A dark world in such an advanced life like today's would ravel into a huge mess. Light bulbs, in my opinion are most neccessary

  9. The light bulb was the most important invention of the three. Imagine a world today without it. With the light bulb we are now able to see in the dark. If we didn't we wouldn't be able to see at night. We use this invention almost everywhere in our daily lives. Can you even think of an area without a light bulb to light the way? Think of times when there was a blackout look how lost everyone was when there was no source of light. That’s what life was like before the invention of it. If you wanted light back then you would light a lantern. Now we can do it with a simple flick of a switch.

  10. In my opinion Thomas Edison's invention of the light bulb is much more influential and an overall better invention than the first radio waves being passed over the Atlantic Ocean. The light bulb has changed the way we live our everyday lives. We do not appreciate this invention because we use it everyday and take it for granted. The radio waves was a very big invention and ultimately led to many inventions but we could live without them. It would make life a little tougher but it doesn't have nearly the impact the light bulb did. Before the light bulb, if you wanted to do something you needed to do it during the day. As soon as the sun went down, nothing could be done and everyone went to sleep. Now lots of the work done is at night. Also without light bulbs, there will be no tvs, no phones, nothing that gives off anylight. Without the light bulb, life will not be as we know it.

  11. I think that radio waves are the most important. It is true that the light bulb was a huge achievement, but people had don't fine with no electric lights for a long time. Telephones didn't even become popular until later. However, radios are the most basic form of communication. They can be used all the places phones can't or when telephones become unavailable.

  12. I think that the light bulb, made by Thomas Edison, is the most important invention out of the three. It is very important and is easily taken for granted in today's society. This also led to many other inventions that use light. Before this invention most things had to be done during the day because it would be far too dark out to do anything at night. I wouldn't want to live in a world without lighting.

  13. I think that the telephone was the most important invention of the second indusrrial revolution because it allowed the communication of information much easier. Becsude of the telephone people were allowed to convey information and discovies in almost a split second. That spread ideas and led to other inventions. That is why I believe that it was the most important

  14. During the 2nd Industrial revolution, many inventions were being made. Inventions such as Alexander Bell's telephone, Thomas Edison's lightbulb, and Gugliemo's Mrconi's radio waves were made in the 2nd Revolution. In my opinion, the most important invention would be Thomas Edison's invention of the lightbulb. If he hadn't created the lightbulb we would be straining our eyes to do any work needed. The lightbulb makes it easier to walk around you house in the dark or do any work. The lightbulb is the most important invention because it provides better lighting than a candel.

  15. I think Alexander Graham Bell's invention of the telephone was most important. Light could be given by candles which save energy. The telephone worked before the radio waves. The radio waves do have important role in the telephone now, but if the telephone worked before the radio waves it could work without it. The telephone made communication possible without being face to face. Even though it wasn't as better as it is now, it's very reliable and to me the most important.
